Cheap plastic parts are what the manufacturer used for the drop rail. As a result, the drop rail meachanical parts break. I had to spend time reinforcing these drop rail mechanics with my own parts. Also, very tough to lower the mattress to its lowest level without taking the whole crib apart - why? because in order to reach screw-holes within the metallic box spring (on which the mattress sits), you would need to reach through the verticle rails of the back-side of the crib (opposite the drop rail). In order to do this you would need hands the size of my 8-month old son. I was lucky because I am 6 feet tall and could just bend over to reach to place the screws in place and fasten the wing nuts.
